After participating in a tea ceremony in Japan 35 years ago, I started to make Chawan myself.
The first years I used a potter's wheel, but since I am following lessons in the Japanese tea ceremony (Urasenke),
I make my Chawan by hand.
I am especially fascinated by the Chawan that Chojiro made for the great tea master Sen no Rikyu.
For me, the Chawan is above all a utensil - therefore its functionality is my main starting point for the manufacturing process.
